How are you different from a traditional florist?
We don't have the traditional expenses of a brick-and-mortar florist. Because we don't have a 'shop' for walk-in traffic, we have no expensive urban storefront rent, no retail staffing costs, no window dressing needs, and best of all, NO SPOILAGE. All these cost-savings are deferred to you - the customer - and to fund backpacks for our students in need.
How come you don't have any spoilage?
We are a made-to-order or on-demand flower service. Through an Internet-based system, we work hard to only order product as it is ordered from us. Though this means we don't typically offer same-day delivery, it also means our next day options end up far less expensive than a traditional florist.
Gifts
Can I order to my office? A hospital? A school?
Yes! We can deliver to any place you’d like.
Do you deliver on the weekends?
No. All gifts and subscriptions can only be delivered Monday through Friday. Events, of course, are done any day of the week.
Can I send a gift to somewhere outside the Chicago metropolitan area?
No. At this time, we only service the following areas - Where We Service.
Subscriptions
How often will my flowers be delivered?
You can choose any day Monday through Friday and create a weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly delivery schedule. Custom schedules are also permitted and accepted. If interested, send an email to chicago@flowersfordreams.com
Will each delivery come with a vase?
Yes! All subscriptions flowers come delivered with a glass vase. The vase type and size varies based on your subscription choice. We also offer you an eco-friendly pick up to remove and replace your previous vase every delivery; at no extra charge to you.
What is a GIFT subscription?
Many subscribers - typically businesses - prefer to buy a subscription for their client(s) to reap goodwill and keep their company top of mind. Same rules and options apply here as in a common Subscription.
Special Events
Where can I order my pre-order bouquet, corsage, or boutonierre?
We create a custom URL for your school (i.e. www.flowersfordreams.com/YOURSCHOOL) where all family, friends, and patrons can reserve a product for pick up on the day of the event.
Where can I pickup my pre-order bouquet, corsage, or boutonierre?
For commencements and recitals, at the event. For dances and proms, the day before the event. Locations and directions will always be offered on the header of your custom URL.
What if I forgot to pre-order a bouquet? Will I still have a chance to purchase at the event?
Yes! There will always be more than enough bouquets so long as you arrive prior to the event’s start time.
Do you offer stage décor like floral runners and garlands? Podium arrangements?
Yes! All of the above. We specialize in decorating your stage whether for a commencement, lecture, performance, or otherwise.
Donations
Does my purchase of a bouquet automatically donate a backpack?
For any purchase of $27 or more, we donate 1 backpack complete with a year's worth of school supplies to 1 local student in need. For any purchase of less than $27, we donate a percentage to buy additional school supplies and backpacks. No matter the purchase, we'll always make it count in your very own community!
How can you afford to donate a backpack with each purchase?
Our donation covers just 50% of each backpack. Supplies for Dreams, our 501c3 nonprofit partner, matches each of our donation's by contributing the other 50% of funds to complete the full backpack before it is delivered to our students.
What comes in each of your donated backpacks?
It varies from year to year based on vendor pricing and demand. Each of our backpacks includes at least folders, notebooks, binders, a scheduler, pens, pencils, and paper. There is a varying presence of items such erasers, rulers, glue sticks, pencil cases, sharpeners, and markers.
How many students have you donated to thus far?
In our first year (2012), we donated well over 2,000 backpacks to more than 2,000 students in need.
