What began as a temporary solution in COVID to reach our loyal customers who moved to disparate places all around the country, has now become a mainstay in our service offering. Before we began offering shipping in 2020, we only did local hand delivery. By the end of that first year of a global pandemic, we were overnight shipping bouquets all around the Midwest to reach our customers. By 2023, it went national.
Flowers for Dreams has teams and locations currently in 3 states:
- Chicago, Illinois
- Detroit, Michigan
- Milwaukee, Wisconsin
Our first step in shipping was small. Only delivering to the states that touched the ones we designed in -- the Midwest or Great Lakes region. We announced on Instagram in the Fall of 2020. It was a natural first step—after all, it’s our home base and allowed us to offer cost-effective, next-day shipping to a large portion of the country. These states included:
- Indiana
- Iowa
- Kentucky
- Minnesota
- Missouri
- Ohio

One of the first major moments in our expansion came around Mother’s Day 2023. In a city like Chicago, where so many of our customers have roots in other parts of the country, we knew not everyone would be able to celebrate in person. Our expanded shipping meant they could still share something meaningful—a handcrafted bouquet from their favorite local florist—with moms, grandmothers, and mother figures near and far.
Since then, this part of our business has grown tremendously. What started as a convenience for existing customers has opened us up to a whole new community of people across the U.S. From coast to coast, we’ve been able to share our mission of locally crafted, sustainably sourced flowers that give back.
Of course, shipping flowers across the country comes with its challenges. With all of our production locations based in the Midwest, we had to get creative. We mapped out shipping zones from each studio, building out hubs to ensure fast and efficient delivery depending on zip code. And let’s not forget about the weather—Midwest seasons are nothing if not dramatic. Over the years, we’ve refined our packing techniques to protect delicate petals from heatwaves, snowstorms, and everything in between.
And then there’s Mother’s Day itself. Around here, we lovingly call it our Super Bowl of shipping. It’s the biggest and most exhilarating time of the year for our team. Every year we’re blown away by how much it’s grown, and how many moms we get to surprise—from smaller towns like Champaign, Illinois or Eau Claire, Wisconsin now to Brooklyn, New York and Los Angeles, California.
Today, you can receive Flowers for Dreams bouquets in all lower 48 states.
