Our Mother’s Day Against Gun Violence

Published on May 01, 2023

Our Moms are sick & tired of being sick & tired. We’re committing Mother’s Day 2023 to bring an end to gun violence

Firearms are now the leading cause of death for US children and teens, surpassing car accidents in 2020. According to the CDC, gun violence alone accounted for nearly 20% of all childhood deaths in 2021.We have more than 7X the number of mass shootings than any other developed country in the world. One of the saddest, most disheartening parts: it surprises none of us anymore.

We can’t sit back and wait for some other time or some other people to act. We all have to apply overwhelming and constant pressure to demand common sense gun reform in America.

So this May, we’re getting in the fight to end this epidemic of deadly firearm violence. Using our flower sales on Mother’s Day, we’ll be committing 1/4 of our spring profits to fund Moms Demand Action in the Midwest. This amazing group of concerned Moms has chapters in each of our cities, winning major victories in every Great Lakes state as well as the biggest gun safety bill in 26 years nationally. With their momentum and into June, we’ll be donating profits to additional grassroots intervention through 3 neighborhood organizations: Safe & Sound, Free Root Operation, and End Gun Violence Michigan. Every bouquet, share, forward, and signature on this record-setting petition can make a small but critical difference to win the fight.

Gun violence takes many forms. School shootings, religiously motivated hate crimes, neighborhood gang violence, homicides and suicides, and too much more. Our team is standing up the way we know best, with our flowers and their platform. You can learn more about this crucial work at flowersfordreamsfoundation.org.
